Toregem Bio Pharma Co., Ltd. is a startup venture from Kyoto University that was born in May 2020.
We started a business based on the research results of Dr. Takahashi, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Kyoto University.
When I was a junior high school student, I lost two teeth due to a mandibular bone disease and had an inpatient surgery. That experience led me to become a dentist. When I was a college student, I had an implant treatment for the lost tooth.
I wanted to study the cause of my illness and how to regenerate lost teeth, so I went on to graduate school in 2008, and since then I have been involved in research on tooth regeneration by Dr. Takahashi.
I am also a lucky person who was able to administer antibodies to tooth loss model mice and first confirm that they had teeth. My peers dentists asked me, “Is it okay for your head to grow teeth with medicine !?”, And of course I was surprised at the unbelievable results, but it’s true. Beginning with mouse research, the effect has now been confirmed in dogs with tooth loss.
Sometimes, I was forced to think about shrinking or withdrawing due to the exhaustion of research expenses, and there were times when I was sluggish with no results, but by all means I want to deliver this drug that grows teeth with a single injection to patients safely. And with the support of various people, the team as a whole has broken through to this point.
Toregem BioPharma first hope to treat patients with congenital tooth loss who do not grow permanent tooth buds due to genetic causes.
With this treatment Toregem BioPharma provides solutions to children and their parents who visit the dental hospitals seeking treatment for congenital and other dental anomalies (like anodontia, acquired tooth defects and tooth decay).
Toregem BioPharma’s , final goal is to offer advanced & scientifically driven clinical solution for the growth of teeth derived from their own tissues.
